I have a 2 and 1/2 year old reactive German Shepherd that couldn't even be around other dogs without going nuts. Carissa worked with us for about 2 months and the change in Hannah is amazing. She can now walk on leash with other dogs, she will lay down peacefully within 5 feet of another dog and she no longer pulls when I'm walking her. Carissa also reinforced commands we previously learned at a couple of other different obedience classes. Carissa is very patient, knowledgable and positive, I would recommend Golden Standard to anyone that wants a quality training experience.

Some friends of ours recommended Carissa at Golden Standard Canine when we expressed an interest in getting our Boxer trained. He was a little over 1.5 years old at the time and he was definitely in need of training. Walking him on a leash was impossible, he didn't know how to control his excitement and we couldn't trust him around other dogs. He was just a bundle of energy that needed some structure. We got ahold of Carissa, let her know what our goals were and she came up with a training plan for us. After the first session, we knew it was going to be incredible. Now, 6 sessions plus another 3 of remote collar training behind us, our dog is mostly well behaved, has self control and responds to us. We still have more work to do, but she gave us all the tools and knowledge we need to be able to continue to improve his obedience. The quality of life between a well-behaved dog and a dog that does whatever he wants is amazing. He's still an energetic puppy that loves to play and have fun, but he knows how to do it within the boundaries we've set. Carissa is incredibly patient and clearly knows what she's doing. If you're considering getting your dog trained, I can't recommend Carissa enough.

We sent our sweet, yet EXTREMELY rambunctious Whoolde (soft coated Wheaton terrier/poodle) puppy to Golden Standard Canine Training when he was 5 months old. A week at GSCT made a world of difference! Carissa is fantastic! Not only did Reggie come home much more well behaved, but upon bringing him home, she worked with me to show me the best approaches to yield the best behavior! She was such a pleasure to work with, and I truly mean it when I say her services changed our lives. I have a toddler son, and he now loves his puppy and has lots of fun with his buddy. We got Reggie for my son, and when Reggie's bad behavior caused their relationship to be more than strained, it broke my heart. Now, we have much less stress in our household, and my two boys (puppy and son) can play together and relax together. We couldn't be happier!

Carissa trained ME not my dog—she taught me how my dog thinks and processes events as well as appropriate expectations. I now understand how to train her to do nearly everything through appropriate reinforcement. The most profound thing Carissa taught me was how to establish boundaries with my dog. It is simply amazing. I have been able to take her to others homes and in less than 10 minutes teach her exactly where she can and cannot go.Carissa's genuine compassion for animals and to see them trained is so evident. She is very patient and explains things very clearly in a way I can understand and remember.

Keziah was a brand new puppy and while she wasn't "bad" she acted like an untrained puppy—jumping on people when she was excited, going to the bathroom where she wanted, and chewing on anything she could find. She is now very well-mannered and I am often complimented when people come over to visit, we go on walks, or take trips to town. People are very impressed and while it was a lot of work up front, it is well worth the effort.

I would (and have) recommend Golden Standard Canine Training to anyone who wants to learn how to train their animals. I love how well-behaved my dog is and when I watch other people struggle with anxiety as their pets ultimately control them (pulling them on walks, dictating the agenda, barking or chewing, jumping on guests etc), I think of how my dog loves to follow rules and how we have such a happy, healthy relationship and know that it is well worth the investment.

The training of our son's service dog was smooth and the transition was easy as well. The interview on our wants and needs was very thorough. The training time once Carissa found the perfect dog for our son wasn't very long. Some trainers will only work from a puppy and Carissa was willing to find an older dog and train him. It was very easy and we had no concerns, we were called with updates regularly we love GSC!

I would recommend GSC. Not only to my friends but to anyone looking for help with a dog. I would not look for another trainer you found the perfect one.
